Convergence Partners – an investment management firm focused on the telecommunications, media and technology sector in Africa – today announced the launch of the Convergence Partners Communications Infrastructure Fund (CPCIF), the only infrastructure fund that is dedicated solely to the information and communications technology (ICT) sector in Africa. With a first close of $145 million, it is one of the largest African based infrastructure funds, notwithstanding its single sector focus.

Dimension Data Dimension Data’s nationwide E-Learning Centre initiative, in partnership with Convergence Partners Foundation, continues to give students access to premium technology applications to support the school curriculum.
E-learning was established in 1996 and provides multimedia learning to over 27 500 learners nationwide enrolled at 52 partner schools. The e-learning curriculum covers English, mathematics, life science, physical science and accounting.
SEACOM has provided funding towards the development and piloting of a new Swahili and English language application for farmers in Tanzania. This falls in line with SEACOM’s commitment towards fostering the use of ICT for economic development across Africa.
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, today announced an equity investment of $35 million in the Convergence Partners Communications Infrastructure Fund to support more rapid development of information and communications technologies across Africa. The fund is expected to play an important development role in Africa, where ICT infrastructure bottlenecks impede the growth of business and companies lack access to finance, especially risk capital and related expertise from investors that can help businesses succeed.
The Internet Solutions (IS) Global Service Centre (GSC) was recognised as a top industry performer at the recent Business Process enabling South Africa (BPeSA) awards ceremony, receiving the award for the Best SA Customer Service Centre in Gauteng.
The GSC is a dynamic and interactive contact centre located at The Campus, in Johannesburg, which serves all South African and African IS clients. Operating 24 hours a day, the GSC aims to attend to all IS client needs with the most efficient and effective level of service. The GSC fields 17 000 inbound telephone calls, 40 000 service requests and averages 15 000 successful network generated events on a monthly basis.
